The FreeBSD ports system is, in my opinion, the single best thing about FreeBSD. Portupgrade provides a way to maintain and patch all of your ports

IE Patent Loss Aftershocks Reverberate. M$ May Have to Reengineer IE's Plugin Architecture. I have issues with many such technical patents but overall this is a good thing.

OpenBSD: PF fingerprinting capabilities
"Passive operating system fingerprinting was just committed to PF which exposes the source host's OS to the filter language. Powerful policy enforcement is now possible such as redirecting all older windows boxes to a web site telling them to upgrade.
